War Of The Ring

I'm going to get back into rules development by looking at my Fantasy adaptation to the Thomas Rules. I never covered the War of the Ring period in the Middle Earth version and with all the current interest in the Battle of the Five Armies film this winter, this looks like a good time to focus some effort on this project and help me get back into the swing of it.

My preference is to model it on the SPI game War of the Ring which I used to play back in the 1980s. This featured artwork which still captures the imagination and has that wonderful board map representation of Middle Earth which can be used for all sorts of things. As a further evolution there is the prospect of linking the Board Game to the wargame battle simulation which looks interesting.

Broadband

Severed my relationship with BT after months of grief. I've now signed up with Virgin Media but need to wait until 23 December to get connected. This limits my activities somewhat and combined with my re-launched wargames room going a bit behind to plan it may not be until January that I'm a regular poster to the blog and playing games and playtesting rules developments. I've waited patiently this long so another month doesn't seem too much to bear.

Back From Exile

Yes. It's been a while since I posted on my Blog. Plenty of reasons - illness, house moves (times two) and losing my wargaming room. I've now settled into my new house and it has a dedicated room for me to re-commence my wargaming activity and interests.

Top of the agenda is to start up from where I left it with the development and gameplay of the Neil Thomas wargaming rules. I purchased his latest volume on One Hour Wargaming and look to utilise several of his ideas particularly the chapter on scenarios and game setup.
